Sensors and Sensor Systems
Fraunhofer IZFP Dresden (IZFP-D)
Sensors are at the heart of measuring and monitoring techniques for nondestructive testing and SHM. Consequently, development of new sensor technologies, their combination to high-complex sensor systems, but also special topics like self-sufficient power supply and wireless communication are of high priority. To the typical strengthes of sensor development at Fraunhofer IZFP-D belong system integration and transfer to practical application. Systems of eddy current and ultrasonic sensors make impact areas in carbon fiber reinforced plastics visible, damaged fiber structures in the interior can be detected. NDT becomes the key in introducing light weight engineering to aerospace, automotive and energy technology. Less weight, reduced operation costs at equal safety - sensor systems of IZFP-D make it possible.
- acoustic and optical sensor systems for structural health monitoring
- high-frequency ultrasonic sensors
- novel x-ray measuring techniques based on direct converting line detectors
- polymer integrated eddy current detectors
- development of nano sensors (magnetic, x-ray and optical, like SNOM matrix)
